Why Neeta and Nishka Lulla? Well, why not?
FSJ May, 2013

It’s the month when Mother’s Day (May 12) is celebrated.
And having filmdom’s only mother-daughter team that sells fashion and style, falls in step with the progressive FSJ thought of celebrating the creatively (and commercially) successful, irrespective of   which department they work for. Since when did film stars alone fall into that category?
Let’s offer another thought for Mother’s Day. At a premiere show of Goynar Baksho (The Jewellery Box, personally sub-titled in English by Aparna Sen herself) in Mumbai, the filmmaker was present (a little plump, pleasantly so) along with her daughter Konkona Sen who stars in the film. There was of course Moushumi Chatterjee too, who is really the ‘spirited’ backbone of this merry film. One doesn’t know why Aparna wanted Raakhee or Sharmila Tagore for the role because that element of fun and mischief from a plump old, delightfully abusive widow was right up Moushumi’s street and she keeps the show going right till the end. This is one actress who has been under-utilised all her life and hopefully, Aparna’s film will bring her the acclaim she deserves.
